If you run a California restaurant, bar, hotel, brewery tasting room, or other on-premises venue, RBS compliance is part of staffing. Servers and the managers who supervise them generally need current RBS certification. This page is for owners, GMs, and HR leads who need a simple way to get people into training.
Why employers care about RBS
- State requirement for covered roles
- Onboarding new hires inside the allowed window
- Avoiding last-minute scrambles before busy seasons
- Keeping renewal dates visible before the 3-year mark
We provide online RBS training / course access. ABC still owns the portal, exam, and Certified status.
Getting several staff trained
Each learner should use their own details for the ABC portal and for course access. For a group order note:
- Have each person ready with a unique email, or
- Email [email protected] with the venue name and headcount, or
- Use the Notes field on the order form to list how many Server vs Manager seats you need
Price guidance remains about $10 per course access, with payment details emailed. ABC portal fees are per learner and separate.
Managers and servers
Do not train only the floor staff and skip shift leads. If someone manages alcohol servers, check whether that person also needs RBS. See who needs RBS.

FAQs
Can I buy one login for the whole bar?
No. Each person who needs certification should complete training and the ABC steps under their own identity.
Do you issue ABC certificates to my restaurant?
Certified status comes from ABC after the learner passes. We provide training / course access only.
How do I track expiry dates?
Ask staff for the date shown in their portal, and set calendar reminders at the 3-year mark.
